Williams Metal Fabrications and Bowhill Engineering played a significant role in delivering a new pedestrian crossing for the Osborne Shipyard in South Australia.
This was truly a joint effort, with Williams Metal Fabrications as the main steelwork contractor and Bowhill Engineering as subcontractor to complete the QA (relating to the girders only), fabrication, welding, and coating, whilst assisting Williams Metal Fabrications with the preassembly of the girders at Bowhill.
The structure turned into a 43m long, 3.5m wide assembly weighing approximately 50t that was delivered and fitted out prior to being erected over the rail corridor. It was lifted and placed straight from the assembly location onto the abutments with a 1200t crane.
Collaboration was key to this project, and the expected outcome was achieved on budget, on time and without incident. We were proud to have worked alongside Bowhill Engineering, McMahon Services and Australian Naval Infrastructure (ANI) to help deliver this important work.
